I'm back! Erm... is there anybody out there?

My blogging has ground to a halt, largely because the lovely folk at Bloomsbury have been whizzing me up and down the country so that I can talk to groups of children about monsters! I've been to the Hay, Hoddesdon and Hemel Hempstead, to Birmingham, Beaconsfield and Bristol, Sowerby Bridge, Salford and Southampton, Coventry and erm... Leicester (sorry, ran out of alliterative locations there).

May was marked by a Daily Monste. You can see them here if you missed it

I've had a great time and I've discovered that children have a real love for what one young man called 'old school monsters.' I love that expression and I'm going to be using it a lot.

Don't get me wrong, vampires, werewolves and zombies still give me thrills and chills but there's something awesome about a BIG monster.

As a young boy, I loved watching the old monster B movies on late night TV. So I'm really excited by the imminent arrival of Pacific Rim. Big monsters, mass destruction, awesome action. I can't wait.

Maybe this is the time for the return of the 'old-school monster.' Let's hope so! And while we're at it, what's your favourite monster?
